Arkansas State University (A-state) was founded on 1st April 1909 by Act 100 of the 37th Arkansas General Assembly. It is a public institution which mainly focuses on educating leaders, enhancing intellectual growth and enriching lives. In the Delta and the Mid-South region of their state, the university acts as the catalyst for progress. 

Arkansas State University is one of four Arkansas High Schools which were created to teach agriculture, horticulture and the art of textile manufacturing.

The university's partnerships include hosting the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine which is Arkansas’ first osteopathic medical school, the creation of Mexico’s first American-style university with ASUCQ in Queretaro, and working with O’Reilly Management for the Red Wolf Convention Center and Embassy Suites.
