Brigham Young University is a private for-profit research university which is owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). The University lays its main stress to the undergraduate students with a total of 179 majors associated with it. The university also has 62 masters and 26 doctoral programs for its students as of now. Along with the main campus, it also comes with two satellite campuses located at Jerusalem and Salt Lake City.

Apart from the academics, the university follows a very disciplinary honour code for its students. Along with teaching standards, the students are also given education about honesty, adherence and the grooming standards, no consumption of illegal drugs or any type of tobacco, etc. Also, from the recent data, it is seen that about 99% of the students who study here are a part of the Latter-day Saints Church.

The University also has a good sports record where the University athletic teams compete in Division1 of the NCAA and the team is known as Cougars.
