Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) is a public state institution that was established in the year 1927 and is located in Portales, New Mexico. ENMU is the youngest state university in New Mexico. From 1934 to 1940, the university was operated as a two-year college. In the year 1949, the master's degree was added and in 1955, the institution was officially called the university. 

Over the years, the university made many changes by constructing new buildings, introducing new programs to cater to their growing students from all parts of the world. The main aim of the university is to combine a traditional education with the latest technology to provide students with rich educational experience. Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) campus (branches) are located in Ruidoso and Roswell.
