Iowa State University is a public university functioning as a member of the Association of American Universities and is located at Ames, Iowa. The university was founded in the year 1858 and was initially named as the Iowa Agriculture College and Model Farm.

The institution was granted the university status in 1959 and renamed to Iowa State University of Science and Technology. The university owns many prestigious patents such as the invention of the first Binary Computer, Maytag Blue Cheese, and the Round Hay Baler.
