Scholarships for Disability Overview

According to the Americans with Disabilities Act passed in 1990, the students who need special care are supposed to be provided with every facility to pursue education. A number of schools now provide recruitment programs as well as financial aid benefits to the students hence encouraging them in moving their academic status forward.

Students who have emotional, cognitive and behavioral impediments are awarded many scholarship opportunities. Certain state and private organizations offer students who are dyslexic, scholarships to assist their financial burden of education. Such scholarships are categorized as Scholarships for Disability. These scholarships make it possible for disabled students to follow their dreams and complete their education. 

Students who do not have the financial background to fund their education, who belong to minority communities or who are females with disabilities have immense opportunities offered by myriad organizations and groups for education. Scholarships are awarded to students whose parents are blind, who are dyslexic, who have ADHD, and other various disabilities. Certain scholarships offered by different organizations are enlisted below:

  • The Anne Ford Scholarship: The students who are high school senior graduates and have learning disabilities are awarded the Anne Ford scholarship. The student has to have a high cumulative GPA to be eligible for this scholarship.

  • The Ability Centre of Greater Toledo Scholarships: The Ability Centre awards scholarships to students who are disabled ensuring them an education they aim. The scholarships help students with basic and higher education.

  • Pine Cone Foundation Scholarship: The students who have LD are granted the Pine Cone Foundation Scholarship as a help for their education with the different college expenses by the Pine Cone Foundation.

  • Baxalta Education Advantage Scholarship: The state organization of Baxalta offers scholarship programs to students who have hemophilia A or B(factor VIII or IX deficiency) irrespective of the treatment in use.

  • Beatrice F. Kroesche Fund Scholarship: The Beatrice F. Kroesche Foundation offers scholarships to assist the education of visually- or hearing challenged single women or single mothers graduating in humanities or education.
