About the Scholarship

AAMI Foundation Scholarship is sponsored by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation. AAMI is a nonprofit organization established in 1967. The main aim of AAMI is the development, management, and use of safe and effective health technology. The foundation also provides financial assistantship. AAMI Foundation Scholarship was created in 2009 in honor of past AAMI president Michael J. Miller, who provides financial support to students who are pursuing an education in healthcare technology.

What are the basic requirements needed to apply for this scholarship?

  • The students applying for this scholarship must have been completed their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application to receive this award.

  • applicants are required to submit a short essay (500-700 words) explaining how they view themselves fitting into the profession and describing their evidence of academic excellence and the other skills.

  • Applicants must submit their current official transcript to apply for this scholarship.

  • Two letters of recommendation from professional contacts must be provided by the applicant.

AAMI Foundation Scholarship award amounts to

  • This scholarship provides $3000 annually which is non-renewable.

  • A total of 7 awards are offered by this scholarship each year to those students who demonstrate academic excellence.

Deadline information

The applications are to be submitted by the end of January 31, 2020. Students are informed to submit their scholarship application and other requirements are to be submitted before the due date. Applications and other information are available online from the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation website.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be enrolled at an accredited institution for an academic program in healthcare technology profession as full-time.

  • The student should be aspiring to become biomedical equipment technicians, or health technology specific engineering, including clinical engineering.

  • The student should be studying to become a health systems engineer.
