About the Scholarship

Advocacy in Action Video Contest is administered and is sponsored by the Center Of Effective Government. The organization was formed in 1983, with a primary focus on making the work of executive branch agencies more transparent and open to citizen input. 


How to apply for this scholarship?

  • The applicant must submit a video in about 60-second on Public Service Announcement (PSA). Total running times of a video must not exceed 60 seconds, including credits and the total running times of the documentary must be at least 5 minutes and no greater than 7 minutes.

  • The video must highlight the problems of hazardous chemical facilities or provide at least one solution for the same problem.

  • The students applying for this scholarship must complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application to determine their family's financial position to pay for their education.


Award Amount

  • This scholarship amounts to $250 to $1000 based on the students meeting their requirements.

  • The total number of awards offered by this scholarship is limited to 3 candidates each year

  • Awards will be granted to both categories (PSA and documentary)


Deadline information

All the required documents must be submitted to the institution on or before March 18, 2020, to be eligible for the scholarship.

The applications are to be submitted by the end of March 18, 2020. Students are informed to submit their scholarship application and other requirements are to be submitted before the due date. Applications and other information are available online from the Center Of Effective Government website.


Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be in grades 9-12 at a school in the U.S.

  • A candidate may be a homeschooled student.

  • The student does not have to be an American citizen.

  • A recipient can submit only one video per category, whether submitted as an individual or group.
