About the Scholarship
Alabama Student Grant Program
The Alabama state government recognizes the value of making college more accessible to its residents' students. To that end, the state sponsors the student grant program which are administered through the Alabama Commission on Higher Education. These state-supported grants help college-bound students from Alabama find the financial resources they need to realize their educational and career goals.
The Alabama Student Grant Program was established on August 4, 1978. Its a state student assistance program by the Legislature of the state of Alabama and designed to provide financial assistance to the undergraduate studies. The Alabama Student Grant program is not based on financial need.
The Alabama Student Grant Program Amount
Eligible students receive an amount up to $1200
Renewable for a total of 10 semesters of enrolment or until the completion of an undergraduate studies
Recipient must reapply every year for renewable of scholarship found.
Recipient must maintain satisfactory academic progress as determined by the institution
The Alabama Student Grant Program Application Deadline
This application must be completed and received by the institution's student financial aid office on or before the deadline of September 15, 2019, in order to receive consideration for fall term 2019. The following dates are application deadline for other terms
- Winter quarter -January 15, 2020
- Spring Semester-February 15,2020
- Spring quarter -April 15, 2020
The student must have obtained a certificate of graduation from a secondary school or the recognized equivalence of such graduation;
The student must be classified as an undergraduate student
The student must be an Alabama resident as defined in Alabama Student Grant Program Act 90;
The student must be a citizen of the United States or in the process of becoming a citizen of the United States
The student must be enrolled as a full-time or half-time student in an eligible program in an approved institution
The student must be making satisfactory academic progress
The student not be enrolled and not intend to enroll in a course of study leading to an undergraduate degree in theology, divinity, or other fields of preparation for a religious vocation.
