About the Scholarship

Albert E. Phillips Scholarship is licensed by the Construction Owners Association of America (COAA). The association was built up in the year 1994, and it is a national association of public and private proprietors who manage facilities advancement and capital improvement ventures.

The Albert E. Phillips Scholarship was started to honor Al Phillips who served as general counsel for the association for a long time and furthermore is an establishing member from COAA.

How to apply for this scholarship?

  • The students applying for this scholarship must have to complete their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application first to determine their financial position of his/her family.

  • An applicant must submit an essay of 1,000 words or less on one of the following topics

    • What attracted you to construction and what are your career plans in the industry?

    • What do you find to be the most critical issue facing the construction industry and why?

  • The application procedure also requires a recipient to submit two letters of recommendation and current copy of a student transcript.

Award Amount and Deadline

  • This scholarship amount to $1500 annually and is non-renewable.

  • The total number of awards offered by this scholarship is limited to 2 candidates each year based on the profile.

Students are informed to submit their scholarship application and other documents no later than March 1st, 2020 to be one among the eligible applicant to receive the scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria

  • An applicant must have to maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.50 out of 4 to avail the scholarship benefits.

  • A student must be either a relative of an employee of a COAA Member or Associate Member or an employee of a COAA Member or Associate Member organization.

  • Students must have completed freshman year in a technical field of study such as architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, construction management, or similar.
