About the Scholarship
The American Meteorological Society provides financial aid opportunities to students who belong to underrepresented communities like Hispanic, Native American, and Black or African Americans while pursuing higher studies in science-related fields.
The AMS Minority Scholarship programs are awarded to students who are intending to enroll in an accredited university or college as freshmen for degree programs with majors as the atmospheric or related oceanic and hydrologic sciences.
AMS Minority Scholarships Awards
The scholarship program is for two years giving the students a total amount of $6000 for both the years.
Students receive $3000 each per the freshmen and sophomore years.
The scholarship will be awarded in the second year on the basis of the completion and academic status of the first year.
AMS Minority Scholarships Application
The recipients of the scholarship are selected by the Society based on the eligibility criteria. The students must submit the following in order to complete the application for the scholarship program successfully:
The application form available on the official website of the organization; must be completed with accurate details.
An official high school transcript from the previous three years.
A letter of recommendation from a guidance counselor or teacher from high school.
A copy of records of any national college entrance exams.
AMS Minority Scholarships Application Deadline
The application inclusive of all the important documents must be submitted by February 8th without fail. Any application received past the deadline will be considered invalid.
The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or has a permanent residence.
The applicant must be entering the freshman year of college if the student is minor.
The student must be planning to pursue a career in the atmospheric or related oceanic and hydrologic sciences.
