About the Scholarship

This scholarship program was started by the American Quarter Horse Foundation to assist a student who wishes to pursue a major in animal science or a large animal-related degree from Tarleton State University or Texas A&M University. Applicants are required to apply for this scholarship in their senior year of high school. The scholarship funding will be applied to a four-year undergraduate degree program. All candidates for this scholarship are required to maintain academic eligibility as specified by the financial aid department.

How to Apply for this Award?

  • To be considered for this scholarship program, all applicants must fill and submit the scholarship application form to the concerned financial aid department. 

  • Applicants must provide a copy of his/her high school transcript to determine where he/she is studying in.

  • The candidates must submit a letter of reference from his/her faculty member.

  • Applicants are also required to demonstrate their financial need towards an academic education.

Award Amount and Deadline:

The organization is funding $6000 given to all eligible candidates per an academic year.

The deadline date for this scholarship is December 1st, 2019. Each applicant must submit all the scholarship related documents no later than the deadline date.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a current member of the AQHA or AQHYA from Texas with a background of rural farming or ranching.

  • The applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

  • The applicant must be pursuing a major in animal science or a large animal related degree.

  • The applicant must be enrolled at Tarleton State University or Texas A&M University.

  • The applicant must be a high school senior graduate.
