About the Scholarship

The graduating senior students residing in the state of Texas are provided with scholarship opportunities by the Association of Texas Leaders for Education in order to encourage more students to get higher education.

The Association of Texas Leaders for Education Scholarship program is awarded to students who are planning to enroll in an accredited school in Texas for secondary education.

The applicants must be enrolled in an accredited university, college or technical school as full-time students and demonstrate financial need.


Association of Texas Leaders for Education Scholarship Awards

  • The scholarship program is administered by the Community Foundation of West Texas, formerly known as the Lubbock Area Foundation, Inc.

  • Eligible recipients of the scholarship award receive an amount of $1000.

  • The number of awards available vary every year depending on the number of applicants.

  • The scholarship amount will be directly sent to the educational institution the recipient is enrolled in.

  • The award amount can be used to pay the tuition and fees, and for books.

  • The unused funds must be given back to the Foundation.


Association of Texas Leaders for Education Scholarship Application

The recipients of the scholarship program are selected by the Scholarship Advisory Committee and the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation based on the eligibility criteria and various other factors.

The students must include the following documents in the application for the scholarship program:

  • The application form that is available on the official website of ATLE must be completed.

  • A personal essay which is typed and not handwritten.

  • The high school transcript.

  • 2 letters of recommendation from the high school faculty or counselors of the applicant.


Association of Texas Leaders for Education Scholarship Application Deadline

The scholarship applications must be submitted to the Scholarship Advisory Committee of the Association by March 15th without fail. Late submissions and incomplete applications will be disqualified.


Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a graduating senior.

  • The student should have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  • The student should produce financial need.

  • The student should have done service to the community and school.

  • The student should have plans to enroll at an accredited institution or technical school in Texas as full-time.
