About the Scholarship

The American Welding Society offers scholarship programs to undergraduate or graduate degree students belonging to any part of the world while pursuing a course of study in the field related to welding and joining technologies.

The AWS International Scholarship Program is awarded to international students enrolled in an approved university or college for a Baccalaureate degree program for more than a year as full-time.

AWS International Scholarship Program Awards

  • The recipients are selected by the scholarship committee of the organization based on the eligibility criteria.

  • The number of awards available vary every year depending on the number of applicants.

  • The eligible recipients of the scholarship receive an amount up to $2500 which can be used to fund the tuition and fees of the college only.

  • The students who are prior recipients of the scholarship are eligible for the program for up to 4 years, until the completion of the undergraduate degree.

AWS International Scholarship Program Application

The applicants of the scholarship may be from any part of the world enrolled in an accredited university or college for an eligible program.

The applicant must submit the following documents in order to be considered for the scholarship program:

  • The International Scholarship Application form that is available on the official website of the organization must be completed with accurate details about the applicant.

  • A copy of the curriculum proposed.

  • The Verification of Enrollment from the educational institution the student is attending.

  • Two letters of personal reference.

  • A brief biography of personal goal statement.

  • College/ University grade transcript.

  • Proof of the citizenship of the country the student is from.

  • The financial information about the tuition and fees from the educational institution.

AWS International Scholarship Program Application Deadline

The application must be submitted to the scholarship committee of the organization by April 1st without fail. Any application submitted past the deadline will be disqualified.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must have completed at least one year of welding or related field of study at the Baccalaureate degree-granting institution.

  • The student must be enrolled full time

  • Official proof of acceptance from the academic institution.

  • Proof of country citizenship.

  • Applicant must submit all required application information.

  • Applicants may reapply; however, persons who have received this award may reapply and may be granted the award for a maximum of four times.

  • Financial information regarding tuition and fees from the academic institution must be included with each application.
