About the Scholarship

The scholarship is awarded by the Amarillo Area Foundation. An organization that began with a dream to address the healthcare needs facing the Texas Panhandle. It is the only non-profit community foundation serving more than 400,000 people in the Texas Panhandle. They provide grants and services to strengthen non-profit organizations and the service they deliver. This scholarship was established to benefit students planning to attend Amarillo College or West Texas A&M University. 


How to apply for the scholarship?

  • The applicant should complete the application which can be found on the Amarillo Area Foundation site.

  • Along with the application, the applicant must also submit proof of U.S. citizenship or residency, official academic transcripts, ACT/SAT scores, current IRS Form 1040, two recommendation letters and FAFSA. 

  • Consideration will be given to an applicant whose recommendation letters indicate a skill or ability which may not be reflected in the scoresheets or gpa. 


 How much the scholarship award amounts to? 

The award amounts to $500 per semester for up to 8 semesters.

The deadline date is set for February 8


Eligibility Criteria

  • An applicant must be a graduating senior from high school in 26 countries of Texas.

  • A student must hold at least a 3.2 GPA out of 4 to be eligible for the scholarship.

  • An individual must be involved in various community services and demonstrate leadership skills.
