About the Scholarship

Billy Smith Memorial Scholarship is licensed and is provided by the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois. The association that was established in the year 1935, (CFNIL) is a regional head in charity. Community Foundation of Northern Illinois was begun to give educational resources and necessary financial assistance to graduating secondary school baseball or softball players who mean to seek after a sport-related higher education. This grant is sport-related in light of the fact that it memorializes the exercises Billy cherished most.


How to apply for this scholarship?

  • An applicant must first fill in their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application form to determine how much they are able to pay for their education.

  • The applicants must submit an essay describing their past academic or personal achievements, leadership skills, community, and school involvement.

  • Applicants are required to demonstrate their financial need and submit all the supportive documents.

Eligibility Criteria

  • An applicant must be a high school senior graduate from the United States.

  • A candidate must be a resident of Winnebago, Boone, Ogle, or Stephenson County.

  • To be eligible for the scholarship, an applicant must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or more out of 4 to be eligible for the scholarship.

  • A student should major in a sports-related field in college.
