About the Scholarship

Carol A. Hurley Memorial Scholarship is awarded by Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC).

The foundation was organized in the year 1965 to create opportunities for all Vermont students, but particularly for those—of any age—who plan for their higher studies but cannot afford for higher studies. 

This scholarship was established by the friends, family, and colleagues of Carol Hurley. 


What are the application procedures while applying for this scholarship?

  • The applicants must have been completed their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application to receive this award.

  • Applicants must submit with a letter of recommendation while applying for this scholarship from teachers, coaches, and other professionals who know the applicant well.

  • A current official transcript must be submitted with a school seal or signed by an official from the school

  • Must submit an essay describing their interests.

  • A copy of your birth certificate is mandatory

  • Students must demonstrate financial need to meet the eligibility.


Carol A. Hurley Memorial Scholarship award amounts to

  • This scholarship provides $1000 each year which is non-renewable.

  • A total of 2 awards are offered by this scholarship each year.


Deadline information

The applications are to be submitted by the end of March 16, 2020. Students are informed to submit their scholarship application and other requirements are to be submitted before the due date. Applications and other information are available online on the Vermont Student Assistance Corporation (VSAC) website.


Eligibility Criteria

  •  The applicant must be attending a school approved for federal Title IV funding.

  • The applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or more.

  • The applicant must display financial need.

  • The applicant must be a graduate from one of the eligible schools.
