About the Scholarship

In order to encourage the students who are aiming to pursue their career in journalism, the Connecticut Pro Chapter, Society of Professional Journalists provides the Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists Foundation Inc. Scholarship. The organization was formed to preserve the idea of a free press which becomes the cornerstone of the nation and the essence of liberty.

Connecticut SPJ strives to keep the citizens of the country well-informed and to encourage the young generation students who aim to pursue a career in journalism.


Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists Foundation Inc. Scholarship Award

  • The students are awarded different amounts depending on their qualification.

  • The recipients receive awards of $2500, $1500, and 2 awards of $1000 each.

  • The scholarship award is utilized to fund the tuition and fees, and other educational expenses.

  • The amount will be sent directly to the student’s account, school or the bursar’s office.


Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists Foundation Inc. Scholarship Application Requirements

The applicant must submit the completed application form along with supplemental documents. Some of the important documents required to be eligible for the scholarship are as follows:

  • Applicants must submit their works in the form of PDF or any other file.

  • An essay of 500 words based on the topic prompted.

  • The student should send transcripts signed by the registrar as well.

  • The application must be sent via postal or online before the last date.


Connecticut Society of Professional Journalists Foundation Inc. Scholarship Application Deadline

The application process for the scholarship in hand ends on 1st May. The application form and the other required documents are to be sent before the deadline to qualify for the scholarship.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be a Connecticut resident.

  • Applicant must be in junior or senior of college

  • A 500-word essay stating a current event of your interest

  • A completed application form.
