About the Scholarship
The Dr. Juan Andrade Scholarship for Young Hispanic Leaders was administered and sponsored by the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute Board of Directors in 1994. This award helps to recognize & assist young Hispanic students with the potential to become leaders in society and business. Recipients are expected to attend the National USHLI conference at the Sheraton Chicago Hotel and Towers in Chicago, IL. The scholarship award amount can cover the expenses for lodging and meals. Recipients will be responsible for their own travel/transportation expenses.
How to Apply?
Applications and additional information are available online at the United States Hispanic Leadership Institute website.
In addition to the completed application form, students must submit a personal statement of 250 to 500 words describing his/her backgrounds such as family, work experience, and relevant activities.
A student must provide a 500 to 750-word essay on leadership and a copy of high school transcripts confirming GPA and eligibility, three letters of reference from individuals familiar with the applicant, a one-page resume.
All applications and supporting documentation must be submitted online by the deadline date.
Award Amount and Deadline:
The scholarship award amounts to $1,000 annually for students attending a four-year college, $500 for students attending two-year schools. All awards are provided only once and are not renewable.
The deadline date for this scholarship is 30th November 2019, Hence all applicants must apply for this scholarship on or before the mentioned deadline date.
An applicant must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
A recipient must be currently enrolled or planning to enroll in an undergraduate program.
A candidate must demonstrate leadership potential.
A student must have at least one parent of Hispanic descent.
A student must plan to enroll in full time.
