About the Scholarship
The spouses, children, and stepchildren of members of the military and armed forces who died of disability or are disabled while on the line of duty are provided financial assistance for pursuing postsecondary education by the Maryland Higher Education Commission.
The Edward T. Conroy Memorial Scholarship Program administered by UMBC’s Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships is awarded to students who are residing in the state of Maryland.
The scholarship program is provided to students who meet the eligibility criteria set by the scholarship committee.
Edward T. Conroy Memorial Scholarship Program Awards
The scholarship amount received by the recipients differs according to the eligibility status.
The students enrolled as full-time may receive the scholarship award for 5 years. The undergraduate students must be enrolled for 12 or more credits per semester and 9 or more credits per semester by the graduate students.
The applicants may use the scholarship amount for 8 years for part-time enrolment. The students must be enrolled for 6 to 11 credits per semester for undergraduate degree level and 6 to 8 credits per semester for graduate degree level.
The scholarship program is available for complete postsecondary education including undergraduate and graduate degree programs for eligible recipients.

The applicant must submit the following documents to be considered for the scholarship program:
The application form that is available on the official website must be completed with accurate information.
A copy of the birth certificate as proof that the applicant is the child of a deceased or disabled military or other services officer.
A copy of the marriage certificate if the applicant is a spouse of the officer.
A copy of the death certificate.
Verification if the student is the military or veteran officer who is eligible.
The applicant must submit the copies of the certificate that are required for the application of the scholarship.
The students are advised to go through the instructions and guidelines before applying and submit all the required documents.
Edward T. Conroy Memorial Scholarship Program Application Deadline
The application inclusive of all the required documents must be submitted to the Office of Student Financial Aid and the Scholarship Selection Committee by July 15th, 2019.
Any incomplete applications or submissions past the deadline are disqualified.
The applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
The applicant must be a resident of Maryland.
The applicant is dependent on disabled US Armed Forces veteran.
The applicant may be a veteran who is completely disabled as a direct result of military service.
The applicant may be a dependent or surviving spouse of a victim of the September 11, 2001 attacks.
