About the Scholarship

Eye Bank Young Ambassador Scholarship in Memory of Christopher Nordquist is accredited by the Eye-Bank. The foundation was established in the year 1944 in New York; it is a non-profit organization devoted to restoring sight through eye donations and cornea transplants, as well as providing ocular tissue for research into treatment and cures for other eye diseases.

Eye Bank Young Ambassador Scholarship in Memory of Christopher Nordquist was started in Memory of Christopher Nordquist to recognize outstanding students and to encourage young people to pursue learning.

What are the requirements needed while applying for this grant?

  • Students must submit a short essay of 1-2 typewritten pages describing an educational or public service initiative in which the student participated that promoted eye, organ and tissue donation such as distributing brochures or speaking to a class or club.

  • Applicants must provide two reference letters from the current school and a counselor’s report.

  • Applicants must provide a current official transcript applicant plans to attend.

  • The candidates are educated to present their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application to get this award.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidate should be residing near to The Eye banks Service area - New York City, and the Hudson Valley (Westchester, Rockland, Putnam and Orange Counties).

  • Candidates should be less than 25 years of age and enrolled in a 2 or 4-year university or college, trade or technical school for the current academic year at the time of application deadline.
