George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation Scholarship

George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation was inaugurated on 1954. The establishment for George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation scholarship is to give the financial assistance to students in the pursuit of higher education; to promote arts. The George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation has awarded $95.4 million in grants and scholarships over its 63 years of service to the community.

Each spring George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation providing 70 scholarship awards to the Houston area high school seniors for undergraduate study. The recipient may select any major at any four-year college or university in the United States. The Foundation has awarded $95.4 million in grants and scholarships over its 63 years of service to the community.

  • George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation awards seventy (70) scholarships to Houston area high school seniors for undergraduate study

  • The scholarship award amount is $20000.

  • The scholarship amount is disbursed over 4 years

George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation Scholarship Application and deadlines

Application criteria

  • Scholarship applications may be submitted during the student’s senior year in high school.

  • Students may complete our scholarship forms online after September 15th of their senior year.

  • The application will be available on the website

  • Do not submit an application before you take the SAT or ACT

  • Students must have a minimum SAT composite score of 1000 (on the Math and Reading/Writing portions combined), and/or an ACT composite score of 21.  All SAT and/or ACT scores must be from the same test date

  • Students who are not possible to access the internet send the filled application to the address

Application Deadline

  • Submit the application before February 17.2020

  • Make sure all the details are up to date

  • Students are encouraged to submit early to ensure that their application is received timely and not wait until the deadline.

Selection process

A number of finalists will be selected from the applications received and will be invited in for a personal interview. They will subsequently be notified in writing if they will or will not receive a Hamman Scholarship. If a student is not invited in for a personal interview by March 15, they may assume that they are not a finalist and no correspondence will be forthcoming from the Foundation.



Eligibility Criteria

  • fThe applicant must be a high school senior after the start of the second year.

  • The applicant must be attending a high school or is homeschooled in Houston are in Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery or Waller.

  • The applicant must be a citizen of the United States.

  • To be eligible for the scholarship, you must have a minimum SAT composite score of 1000 (on the Math and Reading/Writing portions combined), and/or an ACT composite score of 21

  • All SAT and/or ACT scores must be from the same test date.

  • The applicant must demonstrate a financial need.
