About the Scholarship
The students who identify as Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender r Questioning (LGBTQ), as well as those who are allies and supporters of the students who belong to the community and not themselves, are offered scholarship opportunities by the Hampton Roads Pride organization.
The Hampton Roads Pride Scholarship program encourages the recipients to pursue higher education in an accredited institution.
The applicants can be high school seniors, undergraduate or graduate students, or enrolled in community colleges or trade schools.
Hampton Roads Pride Scholarship Awards
The scholarship program is awarded to 4 eligible recipients an amount up to $1600 each per annum.
The scholarship amount is sent directly to the educational institution the recipients are enrolled in.
The fund can be used towards meeting the cost of attendance of the student.
The recipients of the scholarship program are selected by the scholarship committee on the basis of certain eligibility criteria and the documents submitted by the students.
Hampton Roads Pride Scholarship Application
The application that is available on the official website of the organization must be completed with all the requirements and submitted online.
An essay of 1000 to 1500 words based on the topic and guidelines are given must be submitted along with the application.
The official transcripts from the educational institution the applicant is currently enrolled in must be postmarked and mailed to the organizations before the deadline.
The application process is only complete after all the requirements are fulfilled.
Hampton Roads Pride Scholarship Application Deadline
The applications must be completed and submitted to the scholarship committee of the organization prior to April 1st without fail.
Any applications received incomplete or past the deadline will not be considered for the scholarship program.
All students (high school students who have been formally accepted at an accredited institution, community college, undergraduate, graduate, trade school) who identify as LGBTQ or LGBTQ allies are eligible.
Applicants must be in good academic standing with their current institution, with a 3.0 GPA preferred.
Applicants must be involved in some form of social justice cause, as it relates to the LGBTQ community
