About the Scholarship

Heather Robinson Memorial Scholarship is recognized and is sponsored by the Community Foundation of West Texas. The foundation was formed in the year 1981 to understand the issues, opportunities, and resources that shape our community.

Heather Robinson Memorial Scholarship was established by Cindy Best in memory of Heather Robinson. This scholarship is intended for medical students specializing in the field of oncology or cancer research.


How does one apply for this scholarship?

  • Applicants must produce 1 Letter of recommendation from a member of the TTUHSC staff.

  • Verification of enrollment or a copy of the letter of acceptance TTUHSC is to be submitted.

  • Students must prepare and submit an essay on "How have I been touched by cancer?” and “How I plan to help advance cancer research.”

  • The understudies applying for this award must present a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application.

  • Candidates are required to demonstrate their financial need to meet the eligibility.


Scholarship Amount

  • This scholarship amounts to $1000 each academic year which is non-renewable, but the students can re-apply or update their application for each semester that they would like to be considered for this scholarship.

  • The total number of awards offered by this scholarship varies each year depending on the availability of funds and students meeting their requirements.


Scholarship Deadline

The applications are to be presented to the financial aid department no later than July 01, 2020. Understudies are informed to present their documents, and other requirements before the due date to be among the eligible candidates to receive award amounts.


Eligibility Criteria

  • An applicant must be pursuing a degree in cancer, cancer research or any related major.

  • A student must provide relevant documents and demonstrate the need for financial assistance.

  • The applicant must be enrolled at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

  • Candidates must have clear academic and career goals.
