About the Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded by the Hispanic Illinois State Law Enforcement Association (HISLEA), a non-profit organization that is committed to serving its members through a range of financial support programs.
The organization was initially created to look after the concerns that are related to enlistment, career advancement, and backing of the Hispanic and Latino officers working in Illinois. It's also concerned with maintaining a fair and unprejudiced approach for uplifting qualified individuals.
How to apply for this scholarship?
Applicants can visit the HISLEA website and fill the application form with all the necessary documents and submit them before the deadline.
Along with the application, applicants must also submit a cover letter that includes the student's name, address, phone number, GPA, and school that he/she is attending
The applicant must also submit an official transcript, a 2-3 page double spaced essay describing his/her educational and career goals and how the scholarship will help to achieve his/her goals and 3 recommendation letters.
How much the scholarship award amounts to?
The award amounts to $1,000 annually and is non-renewable. Three awards are offered annually for those students who fulfill the eligibility criteria set by the organization. The application's submission deadline is on September 8.
The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and be a Hispanic.
Applicants must have achieved a minimum GPA of 4.0 on a 5.0 scale or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale to enjoy the scholarship benefits from the HISLEA.
Applicants must submit an essay describing their service to the Latino community and how the scholarship will assist them in achieving their goals.
