About the Scholarship

Holland Scholarship

The Holland Scholarship is a consequence of one individual's love for music and studies. Merle Holland Leis Frenzel was a 1954 alumni of Arthur Hill High School. She graduated with a degree in music instruction from Capital University and came back to Saginaw to encourage choral music at North Junior High and after that Arthur Hill High School. Later she got her counseling degree and finished her profession in that field, resigning in 1997.

Her friends and previous students held a "Miss Holland's Opus-54" surprise party upon her retirement. Their liberal tribute and monetary contribution made this grant conceivable. It is trusted it will encourage others.

The evaluation will be done on different criteria -

  • Commitment to a career involving choral music education as demonstrated in an essay (40)
