About the Scholarship

The Iowa UMF College Scholarships are awarded to students who are attending or planning to attend a United Methodist College.

Iowa United Methodist Foundation offers the scholarships to students who showcase good standing in academics as well as extracurricular activities. The applicants are expected to have remained a faithful member of the United Methodist church. 

Scholarship recipients are selected based on their financial needs and the major they choose in college. Preference is given to the students who are entering the ministry.


Iowa UMF College Scholarships Award

The scholarship amount ranges from $570 to $2150. Around 13 awards are offered by the organization.


Iowa UMF College Scholarships Application Requirements

  • The applicant must be an active member of a United Methodist Church in Iowa.

  • The FAFSA procedures must be completed before applying for the scholarship.

  • Personal statement about the applicant must be attached to the application form.
  • The student must produce a letter of recommendation from the pastor of the church where the former is a member.

  • The applicant must produce letters from a teacher, counselor or advisor of the high school and a community leader outside the church like the employer, coach and so on.

  • The applications and other required documents must be submitted online. Application materials sent via mail or email will not be accepted by the foundation.


Iowa UMF College Scholarships Application Deadline

The applications and the supporting documents must be submitted by 1st March 2020 without fail.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be a high school graduating senior

  • Applicant must be planning to enter the ministry and/or do missionary work

  • Applicant must be attending a United Methodist College in Iowa

  • Applicant must submit grade transcript to date

  • Applicant must submit proof of ACT and/or SAT test scores

  • Applicant must submit a FAFSA/IRS Tax return

  • Applicant must be an Iowa resident

  • Applicant must be a member of United Methodist Church
