About the Scholarship

The organization offering this scholarship is Josephine De Karman Fellowship Trust. The Josephine De Karman Fellowship Trust was set up in 1954 by the late Dr. Theodore Von Karman, an incredibly aeronautics expert and educator and first chief of the Guggenheim Aeronautical Laboratory at the California Institute of Technology, in memory of his sister, Josephine, who died in 1951. The motivation behind this Fellowship program is to identify and help understudies whose academic accomplishments reflect Professor Von Karman's exclusive high standards.


How to apply?

  • 2 letters of recommendation

  • Official academic transcripts

  • A 250-300 word statement describing the candidate's intellectual interests.

  • Additional pertinent information not exceeding 2 pages in length.

  • Any significant publications.

  • Any completed chapters of the dissertation.

  • Winners will be announced on April 15th.

  • All the documents must be post mailed in a single package or envelope before the end of the deadline.


Worth of the Scholarship:

Candidates will receive a whopping amount of reward which is approximately $25,000 annually for graduate students pursuing a Ph.D.


Deadline information:

The deadline is so close on Friday, 31st January 2020. Hence all the applicants applying must post mail all the prescribed documents before the finish of the deadline.

 

 

 


Eligibility Criteria

  • The Candidate must be a college junior, who is about to enter his/her senior year in the fall succeeding the deadline, who is going to present his/her dissertation by June. Postdoctoral and master's degree students are not not eligible.

  • The Candidate must be enrolled in a University at the University.

  • The Candidate must demonstrate outstanding academic excellence.

  • Preference will be given to students pursuing humanities studies.

  • The award is open for both international and U.S. students.

  • The vast majority of awards will be going to students who have studied in top tier schools.
