About the Scholarship

The L. Ron Hubbards Writers of the Future Contest is organized by L. Ron Hubbard Library. This contest provides an opportunity for young writers with no prior experience or success in the field of writing.

The L. Ron Hubbards Writers of the Future Contest is a writing contest that rewards the participants based on their writing-abilities and their interest in writing. Any form of illegitimate writing will be terminated.


How to Apply?

To apply for the L. Ron Hubbards Writers of the Future Contest, the applicants are required to submit self-written science fiction, fantasy or horror prose in 17000 words. The work must be in the exact format and follow the decorum of professional writing, as mentioned on the website.

The work is expected to be mailed and postmarked to the provided address on or before the deadline date, of any quarter.


Scholarship Amount

The L. Ron Hubbards Writers of the Future Contest provides 3 monetary rewards each quarter, which are as follows:

  • $1000 - first prize winner
  • $750 - second prize winner
  • $500 - third prize winner

The first prize winner's work will be considered for the final prize, which may fetch another prize of $5000.


Deadline Information

The applications are accepted throughout the year. The quarterly deadlines to apply for the L. Ron Hubbards Writers of the Future Contest each year are as follows:

  • March 31.
  • June 30.
  • Sept. 30.
  • Dec. 31.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate applying for the L. Ron Hubbards Writers of the Future Contest must be an international or a U.S. student having an interest in writing prose.
