About the Scholarship
The Laurie Page-Peck Memorial Scholarship Fund was started in the year 1993 to honor the memory of Laurie Page-Peck, a senior veterinary technician at the North Carolina Zoological Park.
The scholarship fund is dedicated to a deserving veterinary or medical technology student who has an interest in zoo veterinary medicine to attend the annual conference of the Association of Zoo Veterinary Technicians. A student must first apply for scholarship funds to attend the AZVT conference and present the papers.
How to get this Scholarship?
Every applicant must submit the application form that can be found on the official website in order to receive this fund. In addition, enrollment status must be submitted to the office upon request.
Students must submit the topic proposal for presenting the conference paper in abstract form to the scholarship committee for approval. An abstract must contain some of the major components of the paper which should be in 200 words or less.
In addition to that, a topic that is selected and written by the student must pertain to zoo veterinary technology. The topic should be medically oriented.
A paper must contain a case report, retrospective study, clinical pathology of zoo animals or wildlife, hospital procedures/diagnostics, innovations and updates in veterinary medicine, or other prominent material as determined by the scholarship committee.
Award Amount and Deadline
The scholarship fund will award up to $1,500 to deserving candidates in order to attend the AZVT conference and present the paper.
The deadline is fixed on 10th May 2020, All applicants must submit all the necessary documents and application form before the last date.
The applicant must be enrolled in a medical or veterinary technician program.
The program must be accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) within the U.S.
