About the Scholarship

The "Luso-American Education Foundation General Scholarship - Category C-1" scholarship award awarded by the organization 'Luso-American Education Foundation'. This 'Luso-American Education Foundation' started in 1963 and awarded the eligible secondary candidates for their eligibility. 

How to apply for the scholarship?

  • Applications are available on the official website 'Luso-American Education Foundation' and all the applicants must access the online application in order to apply for this scholarship.

  • The applicant has to apply for this scholarship by clicking on 'LAEF (Non-Member) Youth Scholarships' link.
  • Applicant must have to submit FAFSA certificate.
  • A student must submit the Official scorecards of ACT/SAT to demonstrate the completion of the graduation semester as well as academic performance.

  • A student must also submit two reference letters from two individual persons who know the applicant's character and financial needs.

  • In addition to that applicant must write and submit and a two-page essay on a topic listed in the scholarship application.

  • He/she has to submit an official high school transcript.

    The awarded amount for the scholarship:

    The amount awarded for this scholarship is $1,500 per year and is non-renewable. The number of awards given to the eligible candidates is thirteen to seventeen.

    Deadline for the scholarship:

    The deadline for this scholarship is the 15th of February 2020.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must reside in the U.S. or a permanent resident.

The applicant must be pursuing graduation as a high school senior and to enrol in a trade or business school, or a junior or four-year college or university.

The applicant must reside at one of these nine states followings: California, Connecticut, Idaho, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.

He/she must be of Portuguese descent OR be currently taking Portuguese language classes in high school.

His/her grade point average must be of 3.0 or higher if currently enrolled in a Portuguese language class, OR 3.5 or higher if of Portuguese descent.
