About the Scholarship

The "Luso-American Fraternal Federation (LAFF) Youth Member Scholarship - Category A-1" scholarship award is given by the organization 'Luso-American Education Foundation'.  This 'Luso-American Education Foundation' started in 1963 and awarded the eligible secondary candidates for their eligibility. 

How to apply for the scholarship?

  • Applications are available on the official website 'Luso-American Education Foundation' and all the applicants must access the online application in order to apply for this scholarship.

  • The applicant has to submit a wallet-size photo.
  • A student must submit a copy of his/her birth certificate or passport (preferred) or alien registration card.
  • Applicant must have to submit FAFSA certificate.
  • A student must submit the Official scorecards of ACT/SAT to demonstrate the completion of the graduation semester as well as academic performance.

  • A student must also submit two reference letters from whom who know the applicant's character and his/her financial needs.

  • In addition to that applicant must write and submit and a two-page essay about his/her career plans and reason for this application.

  • All the official transcripts and reference letters must be sent before the deadline.

    The awarded amount for the scholarship:

    The amount awarded for this scholarship is $1,000 per year and is renewable for upto three additional years. The number of renewable awards given to the eligible candidates is one and after that, the non-renewable award given to the eligible candidates varies depends on the eligible applied candidates and the availability of the fund amount.

    Deadline for the scholarship:

    The deadline for this scholarship is the 15th of February.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant should be a youth member and policyholder in good standing of the Luso-American Fraternal Federation.

He/she should be continuing graduation in high school as a senior or planning to enter a four-year college or university or junior college or trade school. Please note: Students entering a junior college or trade school are eligible for only the $500 and $300 scholarships.

He/she should be residing in the U.S or be a permanent resident of the U.S.

His/her grade point average should be of 2.5 or higher.
