About the Scholarship

The Maryland Senatorial Scholarship is sponsored and is organized by the Maryland Higher Education Commission for the financially needy students of the US for assisting their tuition fees and other educational requirements.

The organization Maryland Higher Education Commission itself is an extensive resource of financial aid programs, in the form of grants, scholarships, and other awards to help applicants in their further education.

What is the application procedure?

To apply for the Maryland Senatorial Scholarship, the following documents need to be submitted:

  • The applicant's completed copy of the application, which is available online on the official website Maryland Higher Education Commission and can apply.

  • A candidate's FAFSA certificate to determine if his/her family is eligible to pay for their education.

  • The applicant's ACT/SAT scorecard and official transcripts (unless graduated from high school five or more years ago) is required to 

  • Two of the applicant's recommendation letters, from qualified and certified personnel.

  • The applicant's self-written essay on their career plan and future plan.

Scholarship Amount

The Maryland Senatorial Scholarship awards prize money amount ranges from $400 to $11,250 per academic year.

This scholarship is renewable up to three following years and the number of awards provided varies depending upon the total number of applications received for the current year.

Deadline Information

All the necessary documents must be sent to the concerned department on or before March 1. Any late submission will lead to the disqualification.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria to apply for the Maryland Senatorial Scholarship are:

  • An applicant must have attended a two- or four-year Maryland college or university, or certain private career schools.

  • A candidate must be a resident of Maryland and be a legally recognized citizen of the United States.

  • A student must enroll as a degree-seeking undergraduate or graduate student.

  • The applicant must have a dire need for financial assistance to be eligible for the scholarship.
