About the Scholarship

The Structural Engineers Foundation has established the Max Zar Scholarship to the students of Illinois who are pursuing an academic study in civil engineering or architectural engineering or wishing to pursue academic study in these fields will receive this opportunity. The Structural Engineers Foundation is privileged to provide merit-based tuition scholarships to encourage undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in structural engineering programs. 


How to Apply for this Award?

  • An applicant must fill and submit the FAFSA application form in order to determine the financial need of an applicant's academic study.

  • A student must provide current academic transcripts of college or institution indicating the academic enrollment status of a student in graduate study.

  • In addition to that, A candidate must submit their official high school transcripts and scorecards of ACT/SAT to prove their excellence in academics.

  • A student is also required to provide a reference letter from their college professor.


Award Amount and Deadline

An eligible student will get $1500 per academic year of study. The scholarships awarded depends on the total number of application received and availability of funds.

All the relevant documents must be submitted to the financial aid department on or before 30th April 2020 to be eligible to receive the award amount.


Eligibility Criteria

  • A student must be entering the third or fourth year in an undergraduate program during the academic year or will be entering/continuing a graduate program during the coming academic year

  • A Candidate must be enrolled and in good standing in a civil engineering program or architectural engineering program at a recognized university in Illinois or plan to continue/pursue a structural engineering specialization
