Meyer-Simon Latin Scholarship

Gerald A. Meyer's main focus in life was education. He served his full life in instructing for more than three decades, he additionally made language wake up for students. Gerry graduated with a B.A. in Latin from the University of Michigan in 1969. He proceeded with his training at Saginaw Valley State University with a M.A.T. in instructing. Other than educating at Heritage High School, he was additionally an Adjunct Professor of Latin at Saginaw Valley State University.

The fundamental reason for this grant is to encourage the study of Latin and reward those candidates who exceed expectations in the study of Latin.


Evaluation criteria -

  • Applicant overall involvement in work, college and community activity - 30

  • Scholastic record - 20

  • Special skills - 20

  • Extracurricular activity - 10

  • Leadership skills - 20

  • Financial need - 10

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must have a minimum of 2.5 GPA.

  • The applicant must be a graduating high school senior from Heritage High School.

  • The applicant must have successfully completed Latin at Heritage High School and will major in a degree program that requires at least one college-level Latin class to be completed.

  • The applicant must have a full-time enrollment.

  • The applicant must be pursuing an undergraduate degree.
