About the Scholarship

The New York Chapter of the American Logistics Association (ALA) has started this scholarship program to support children of select active duty, reserve, National Guard or retired members of the United States military by financially, who plan to advance their education in college. Scholarships are offered each year for full-time study at an accredited institution of the student's choice.

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, leadership ability and active participation in school and community, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations and Financial need will also be considered. The amount from the award can be utilized to pay for tuition, room, books, and many more.


How to apply for this scholarship?

  • In order to enjoy the benefits of this scholarship, an applicant must complete the online application form and submit it to the concerned financial aid department before the given deadline.

  • The financial position of a student is considered when providing scholarship funds. Hence, all applicants must fill out the FAFSA application form to determine his/her family's financial position towards paying for academic study. 

  • In addition to that, he/she must determine academic excellence by submitting the ACT/SAT scorecards.

  • Additionally, an applicant is also required to submit an official transcript of college or the institution where he or she has enrolled in.


Award Amount and Deadline

The scholarship award amounts to $5000 to all eligible applicants every year.

All applicants for the scholarship award are informed that the scholarship application and all official transcripts must be postmarked before 17th February 2019. Any form sent post the mentioned deadline will be rejected.



Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a dependent child of an active duty, reserve, National Guard or retired member of the United States military who holds valid Exchange & Commissary shopping privileges at the time of application.

  • The applicant must be a high school senior or graduate.

  • a student must be enrolled in an accredited two-year or four-year university or college for the first time in an undergraduate course of study as a full-time student.

  • Candidates must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above out of 4 to be eligible for the scholarship.
