About the Scholarship

The Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Missouri awards scholarships to the residents of the state who plan to pursue a postsecondary education an accredited university, college or any higher learning institution.

The descents of Mayflower are given preference while awarding scholarships as well.


Missouri Mayflower Society Scholarship Awards

The scholarships are awarded to three students based on the winning essays. The scholarship amount varies from $500 to $1500 based on the hierarchy of winning.

  • The student whose essay gets to the first place receives an amount of $1500.

  • The student who gets to the second place gets a sum of $1000.

  • The essay that gets to third place is given $500.

The scholarship amount will be directly sent to the student’s account in the university or college latter is enrolled in.


Missouri Mayflower Society Scholarship Application Requirements

The following documents must be attached to the application:

  • A proof of citizenship.

  • An essay of fewer than 750 words based on the topic prompted.

  • A bibliography of the reference materials used for the essay.

  • A 1-2 page statement based on personal information about the applicant.

  • Two letters of a recommendation from a teacher or counselor of the high school and a church or scout leader or a family friend.

  • A high school transcript copy inclusive of the GPA, and SAT and ACT scores.


Missouri Mayflower Society Scholarship Application Deadline

The application and all the related documents are to be sent to the scholarship committee before 1st March without fail. Any application received past the deadline is considered invalid.


Eligibility Criteria

  • Scholarship contest open to all high school seniors of Missouri

  • Applicants should be enrolled in a university of higher learning

  • Exceptional academic and leadership skills required

  • An essay on the annually assigned topic.
