About the Scholarship

New York Women in Communications awards this scholarship program to graduating high school seniors, undergraduates and graduate students who intend to pursue or further a career in communications. In order to apply for this scholarship, applicants must be majoring, planning to declare a major, or pursuing an advanced degree in a communications-related field at an accredited college/university in the U.S. Communications-related fields. And must have a cumulative academic GPA as specified by the financial aid department.

How to Apply for Scholarship?

  • All applicants must fill out the online application during the open period.

  • The candidates are required to attach a resume.

  • A recipient is required to attach an essay on one of two designated topics.

  • To attach 2 letters of recommendation, one must be from a teacher and another one must be from an employer.

  • Applicants are informed to submit the recent high school transcript to demonstrate his/her academic eligibility.

  • Each completed application is assessed by 2 different readers. Students who pass to the 2nd stage receive telephone interviews. Students who pass to the 3rd stage must attend an in-person interview in New York City. The Finalists are chosen after the in-person interviews. 

Award Amount and Deadline:

The NYWICI Scholarship program award amounts to $2500 to $10000 available to 15 to 20 recipients every year.

The last date to apply for this scholarship is 24th January 2020. All candidates are required to submit the scholarship application no later than the last date.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a U.S. citizen and a permanent resident of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut or Pennsylvania.

  • The applicant must be graduating high school seniors, undergraduate or graduate students who intend to pursue or further a career in communications.

  • The applicant must have an overall GPA of 3.2 or higher.

  • The applicant must major in a communications-related field, such as advertising, broadcasting, communications, journalism, marketing, new media or public relations.
