About the Scholarship
The scholarship is awarded by the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC), the largest non-profit organization in American that promotes American music, performers and music education. They provide musical opportunities for amateur and professional musicians, music teachers and music students.
The NFMC also happens to be the only music organization member of the United Nations. They give out awards yearly to recognize educational institutions for their promotions of American music. This award is given to the approved school of the grant recipient's choice. The applicants should be able to demonstrate growth in the effective application of music therapy techniques with client populations.
How to apply for the scholarship?
The applicant should complete the application which can be found on the NFMC site by attaching all the necessary documents.
Along with the application, the applicant should submit a personal statement referring to his/her qualifications and three recommendation letters.
Additionally, a student must also submit their official academic transcripts with GPA scorecard, and FAFSA.
Award Amount and Deadline
The award amounts to $500 for 1 deserving student per year and is non-renewable.
All the necessary documents must be submitted to the institution on or before March 1 to be eligible for the scholarship.
An applicant must have a need for financial assistance to pursue this specialized education and they must demonstrate it.
The award must be used at an educational institution offering the music therapy degree or for a music therapy internship at an education or health facility.
Applicants should possess well-rounded musical talent, skills, and training on his/her principal instrument as well as the piano and guitar.
