About the Scholarship

In order to encourage more students to pursue a career in the U.S. hydropower industry, the National Hydropower Association offers the Past Presidents’ Legacy Scholarship programs.

The applicant must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree course in programs related to the hydropower industry such as engineering, sciences (fisheries, biology, and hydrology), environmental studies or communications as a full-time student in an eligible educational institution.


NHA Past Presidents' Legacy Scholarship Awards

  • The association provides an amount of $2500 to one eligible recipient of the scholarship program.

  • The recipient of the scholarship is selected based on the eligibility criteria set by NHA.

  • The applicant must be enrolled in an accredited university, college, community college, or technical or vocational school.


NHA Past Presidents' Legacy Scholarship Application

The applicant must submit the application along with all the required documents to the scholarship committee of the association via mail.

  • The application form which is available on the official website of NHA along with completed Applicant Appraisal.

  • The current complete transcripts consisting of grades.

  • An essay based on the topic and guidelines given.

  • The applicant is advised to go through the important checklists and instructions at the time of applying.


NHA Past Presidents' Legacy Scholarship Application Deadline

The application inclusive of all the required documents must be postmarked and sent to the scholarship committee of the association before 15th February without fail.

No submissions will be considered past the deadline.


Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a student at an accredited institution or tech school.

  • The applicant must be a U.S. citizen or a legal resident.

  • The applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or more.

  • The applicant must be enrolled for a program related to the hydropower industry.
