About the Scholarship

The OAN has established the Oregon Nurseries Foundation to manage funds contributed by OAN members for the purpose of awarding scholarships to deserving students preparing for a career in ornamental horticulture and related fields. The Foundation is governed by a five-member Board of Trustees who are members of the OAN. The Board also includes an OAN staff liaison, who does not have voting powers. The ONF scholarship is available to a four-year or community college student majoring in horticulture or related fields who also graduated from an Oregon high school. Preference will be given to a Willamette Chapter member, member's child or an employee of a Willamette Chapter member.


How to Apply for Scholarship?

  • Scholarship information and applications are emailed to colleges and high schools in Oregon and Southwest Washington at the beginning of winter term. Applications must be submitted to the ONF office or postmarked by April 1 to be eligible for consideration. 

  • Submit a one-page cover letter that includes Your future involvement in horticulture, Describe your financial needs, Your OAN affiliation, if applicable.

  • An applicant must list the employment activity for the last three years if applicable.

  • In addition to that, he/she must attach a minimum of two current reference letters that will support your horticulture abilities or interests.

  • Also, an applicant needs to attach a transcript of his/her grades.

  • Finally, a candidate must attach a resume of your activities, clubs, offices held, awards, etc.


Award Amount and Deadline:

The scholarship award amount to $1000 available to one eligible applicant annually.

The deadline date for this scholarship is 19th December 2019. All applicants must apply for this scholarship before the given date.


Eligibility Criteria

  • The students of a four-year or community college majoring in horticulture or related fields who also graduated from an Oregon high school.

  • Preference will be given to a Willamette Chapter member, member's child or an employee of a Willamette Chapter member.
