About the Scholarship

Oklahoma Tuition Equalization Grant Program (OTEG) is accredited by Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. This scholarship is a need-based program. The state government of Oklahoma provides financial assistance to students receiving postsecondary education at an accredited public or private college or university based on financial need demonstrated by the student. 

OTEG started its program to provide financial assistance for Oklahoma residents who are attending private institutions in the state.

The Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grant (OTAG) program is awarded to students who are eligible according to the selection criteria. The students are advised to apply for the grant program as early as possible as the awards are limited to the funding of the grant program.


How to apply for this scholarship?

  • Students applying for this scholarship must have completed their FAFSA application to receive this scholarship.

  • The applicant must demonstrate financial need and financial need is measured by the Expected Family Contribution (EFC).

  • Official transcripts must be submitted by the students and maintain their SAT/ACT scores.


Oklahoma Tuition Equalization Grant Program (OTEG) award amounts to

  • This scholarship provides $2000 annually which is non-renewable and issued only once.

  • The number of awards offered by this scholarship varies depending on the availability of funds and student's eligibility.


Deadline information

The application deadline has not yet been announced and varies evry year, the scholarship application and other related information can be found on the official website of Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education.


Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicants need to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and report Oklahoma as their state of legal residence. A FAFSA must be filed each year in order to be considered for an award.

  • The applicant must be enrolled full time in the fall and/or spring semesters at a school that is eligible to offer OTEG awards.

  • The applicant must have a family income of $50,000 or less.

  • The applicant must have an unmet financial need in meeting the cost of attendance as determined by their campus financial aid office.

  • The applicant must be an Oklahoma resident according to the State Regents' Policy on Residence Status of Enrolled Students in the Oklahoma State System of Higher Education.

  • The applicant should not have already their first bachelor's degree.
