About the Scholarship

Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), is proud to sponsor the Saul T. Wilson, Jr., Internship Program for undergraduate and graduate students in veterinary fields of study that support and are critical to the VS mission. The USDA Pathways Program offers different “pathway” opportunities for students and recent graduates to work in agriculture, science, technology, math, environment, management, business, and many other fields.


How to Apply?

  • A student must complete a scholarship application form initially to receive this fund.

  • Applicants must also provide a resume.

  • Applicants must give the Transcripts for all completed college work to date.

  • Also, an applicant should provide proof of current enrollment and a letter of acceptance to graduate school 

  • A copy of your Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty (DD-214), if you are claiming Veterans’ Preference.


Award Amount and Deadline:

The scholarship is funding $5000 to $10000 to two eligible applicants annually.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be a citizen of the U.S. or permanent resident.

  • The applicant must be enrolled in an accredited veterinary university or college as a full-time student.

  • The applicant must be an undergraduate student who has completed at least 2 years or a 4-year pre-veterinary medicine or another biomedical science curriculum.

  • The applicant must be a graduate student who has completed less than one year in veterinary medicine.

  • The applicant must have good academic standing.
