About the Scholarship
The students who wish to pursue a career in the newspaper industry of the state of South Carolina are awarded scholarship programs by the South Carolina Press Association Foundation to support and encourage the students by relieving them of the financial obstacles.
The SCPA Foundation Scholarships are awarded to students who are residing in the state of South Carolina. The residents may or may not be attending a university or college in the state while being recipients of the scholarship.
SCPA Foundation Scholarships Awards
The association provides scholarship to the residents of the state who are enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited university or college anywhere in the country majoring in the field of newspaper for a four-year program.
The scholarship award is an amount of $1500 per semesters available to students who are selected based on the eligibility criteria.
SCPA Foundation Scholarships Application
The scholarship program is awarded to students based on certain eligibility criteria put forth by the association. The following documents must be submitted along with the application form that must be filled with accurate details:
An essay of fewer than 250 words based on the interest of the applicant in the field of choice.
A resume or statement based on the different academic and extracurricular activities achievements of the applicant in the field of writing.
An official or unofficial college transcript.
A letter of recommendation from an adviser of a faculty member of journalism from the college the applicant is enrolled in.
Less than 6 samples of work in the newspaper.
Other documents related to the different works and achievements of the student in the field of the newspaper.

SCPA Foundation Scholarships Application Deadline
The completed application including the application form and related documents must be submitted to the scholarship committee of the association before 8th March without fail. Any application received past the deadline will be considered invalid.
- The student should be residing in South Carolina.
The scholarship is for student journalists of a 4-year college in South Carolina or elsewhere.
