About the Scholarship

Silesian-Polish Texans Essay Contest is sponsored and is recognized by the father Leopold Moczygemba Foundation. The scholarship is awarded to Texas students of any ethnicity, any faith, in Grade 12. The scholarship Focus on one person of Silesian-Polish descent who lived in Texas in the 1800s or 1900s.

How to apply for the scholarship?

  • An applicant must include the Silesian-Polish descent name in your essay title and submit it for the review.

  • A candidate must compose an interesting and original paper about this person to make him/her “come alive. ”Include biographical information, personality traits, career, and milestones.

  • Interview a senior Silesian Texan for additional details about your subject and include name and date of interview in your citations. An interview is REQUIRED to enter your essay, which must be typed between 400-600 words double spaced.

  • Include the word count for your essay on your cover sheet.

  • An applicant must list a minimum of four references with at least one offline source.

Award Amount and Deadline:

The award amount for this scholarship is $1000 given to four qualified candidates per annum.

The Deadline date is April 18th, 2019. Hence all applicants are required to submit the official transcripts and the essay on or before the mentioned date.

Eligibility Criteria

  • An applicant must be a resident of the state of Texas and be a citizen of the United States.

  • The student may be of any ethnicity or faith.

  • To be eligible for the scholarship, an applicant must be in 12th grade with good academics.
