About the Scholarship

Society of Louisiana CPAs Scholarships is awarded to students who are enrolled for a full-time course of study with accounting as a major Louisiana University.

The scholarship is funded through the private donations made by the members of the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants in order to encourage the students who are pursuing a career as certified public accountants.


Society of Louisiana CPAs Scholarships Scholarships Amount

  • The scholarships are awarded to at least 5 undergraduate students of amounts ranging from $500 to $2000.

  • One award of $1000 is awarded to a student who is enrolled for masters or doctoral program with accounting as a major in a university or college in Louisiana.


Society of Louisiana CPAs Scholarships Application Requirements

  • The members of LCPA are eligible to apply for the scholarships.

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of the state of Louisiana and be enrolled in an educational institution in the state.

  • The applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and 3.0 in accounting courses or better on 4.

  • The student must be enrolled for full-time undergraduate study for 12 hours per semester or equivalent with accounting as a major in a four-year college or university in the state of Louisiana.

  • The applicant must be enrolled as a graduate student for full-time in an educational institution in the state.

  • Certain scholarships can be renewed by the students for a limited period of time.

The applicant must submit certain documents along with the application such as follows:

  • A one-page essay.

  • An official and unofficial

  • A letter of recommendation.

The application process for the academic year 2020 will be open from 9th September 2019.



Eligibility Criteria

  • Current Student Membership in the Society of Louisiana CPAs.

  • Currently domiciled in Louisiana and enrolled full time in an undergraduate accounting program in a Louisiana four-year college or university when the application is filed (verification may be required

  • Students may apply for only one LCPA scholarship per year

  • Successfully completed an intermediate accounting course and are a declared accounting major

  • Academic achievement: 3.0 or better on a grading scale of 4.00 for accounting courses, and 2.5 overall

  • One-page essay, double-spaced, addressing the question provided

  • Two reference letters: one from a current faculty member and the second from a licensed CPA or another person (nonrelative, non-educator) who can attest to your character and why you are deserving of this scholarship
