About the Scholarship

The T.H. Bell Teaching Incentive Loan (TIL), which is now called the T.H. Bell Scholarship program, is organized by the Utah State Office of Education. This institution creates a system for continuous growth that aligns with the Utah State Board of Education Board Strategic Plan.

As per the Utah State Legislatures, the House Bill 188, passed in the year 2019 legislative session, declares the program as a Utah System of Higher Education monitored Scholarship.


How to Apply?

The following are the  requirements for the applicants to apply for the T.H. Bell Teaching Incentive Loan (TIL):

  • File the application available on the official website of the Utah State Office of Education (USOE)
  • The applicant's official high school transcript
  • The applicant's SAT and/or ACT score report(s)
  • A copy of the applicant's self-written one-page essay on personal motivation

The applicants currently enrolled in college must apply through their institution's office and financial help.

The above-mentioned documents need to be submitted on or before 5:00 p.m. of the deadline date.


Scholarship Amount

The T.H. Bell Teaching Incentive Loan (TIL) by the Utah State Office of Education provides a waiver of tuition fees specifically at the Utah public institutions and $995 per semester at private institutions.

The scholarship amount must be consumed in or before 8 semesters.


Deadline Description

The required documents need to be submitted on or before 5.00 p.m. on February 22, 2019.


Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria to apply for the T.H. Bell Teaching Incentive Loan (TIL) are:

  • The applicant must be a U.S. citizen.

  • The applicant must be a Utah resident.

  • The applicant must plan to enroll in courses leading to a degree in teacher certification.

  • The applicant must attend a public or private Utah postsecondary institution.

  • The applicant must be a graduating high school senior or a high school junior who will have completed the requirements for an Early Graduation Program (including the ACT), during the current fiscal year OR, a current college student. Please note: Very few college awards are given.

  • The applicant must be enrolled full time.

  • The applicant must be a U.S. student.
