About the Scholarship

The Ability Center of Greater Toledo Scholarships is licensed by The Ability Center. The foundation was established in the year 1920, The Ability Center is a non-profit Center for Independent Living it was started to assist people with disabilities to live, work, and socialize within a fully accessible community. 


What are the procedures while applying for this grant?

  • Applicants must attach their current certified transcripts while applying.

  • Candidates must provide an essay describing How does your disability affect your life? Why do you believe you should receive this scholarship? If you receive this scholarship how will you give back to your community? 

  • Applicants must demonstrate Academic Achievement, Work Experience and Extra-Curricular Involvement.

  • The students applying for this grant must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application.


The Ability Center of Greater Toledo Scholarships award amounts to

  • This scholarship offers $2000 each year which is non-renewable.

  • The total number of awards offered by this scholarship varies depending on the student's availability and the total amount of funds available.


Deadline info

The applications are to be presented before the end of February 01, 2020. Understudies are informed to present their grant application and other requirements are to be submitted before the due date. Applications and other data are accessible online on The Ability Center website.


Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant may have a disability.

  • The applicant should have a permanent address in Lucas, Wood, Fulton, Henry, Ottawa, Defiance, Williams counties in Ohio.

  • The applicant should have a permanent address in Monroe or Lenawee counties in Michigan.

  • The applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or more.
