About the Scholarship

The Houtan Foundation offers the scholarship to the students of Iranian and non-Iranian, who stand exceptional in academic performance and shows interest in promoting Iran's great culture, heritage, language, and civilization. The Houtan Foundation has a strong interest in student's achievements to encourage that, this scholarship opportunity is given. The recipient should have great academic results and financial needs to get this award benefit. The scholarship award is to assist the individuals economically to achieve higher academic studies.


How to Apply for Scholarship?

  • A student must submit the completed scholarship application, which must be sent to the financial aid department before the given deadline.

  • A student is also required to demonstrate the financial need in order to be part of this scholarship fund.

  • A candidate must submit two letters of recommendation, one from his/her teacher, instructor, or professor, and the other from an employer, or both letters from two professors. 

  • In addition to that, a student should give an official college transcript where he/she is studying in to prove their academic excellence

  • Also, an applicant is required to write an essay, either in Parsi or English, about goals relating to their education, career, and future plans. The essay must be in 500-1000 words.

  • If an applicant is recently admitted to a graduate school, he/she is required to submit the letter of admission.


Award Amount and Deadline:

The scholarship amounts to $3500 to all eligible candidates per academic year. The total number of awards depends on the number of applications received and funds available.

All the above-mentioned documents must be submitted to the financial aid division of the institution on or before 1st June of 2020 to be eligible for the scholarship.


Eligibility Criteria

  • An applicant must know to write, speak and read Parsi, at least at an intermediate level.

  • A student must have been an active participant in the promotion of Persian Culture through formal documents.

  • A candidate must be enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited graduate school and have a good academic background.
