About the Scholarship
The Jack E. Barger, Sr. Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund was established by the Department of Pennsylvania Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) in 1989 to address the state’s nursing shortage. Established in the memory of Department Commander Jack E. Barger, Sr., which awards the students including active duty service members and veterans. The Nursing Foundation of Pennsylvania (NFP), a charitable organization for professional nurses in the Commonwealth, is proud to continue its collaboration with the VFW in ensuring nurses for tomorrow.
In order to apply for this scholarship, an applicant must fill and submit the completed scholarship application form. To fill up the scholarship application form, an applicant must provide his/her personal information that includes applicant's Full name, Year of anticipated graduation, Applicant’s mailing address, Applicant’s phone number, Applicant’s email address.
Award Amount and Deadline:
The scholarship is funding $1000 to six eligible applicants annually.
All applicants must submit the application form Submit via the NFP website by March 30, 2019.
The applicant must be an active duty service member or a U.S. veteran.
The applicant must be a child or a spouse of an active duty service member or a veteran.
The applicant must be a resident of the state of Pennsylvania.
The applicant must be an undergraduate student.
The applicant must attend the local VFW district meeting to accept the scholarship award.
