About the Scholarship
The Pickard Scholarship Fund was established by the Dallas Foundation in the year 2004 to assist the students in Dallas County.
Dr. Pickard was an optometrist and the founder of the Pickard Eye Clinic who started this scholarship with his own name. A student with a great financial need can avail this scholarship opportunity to overcome the economic crisis with respect to achieving high academic study.
The scholarship award amount can be utilized to cover academic tuition, fees, books, or any other educational expenses.
What is the application procedure?
In order to apply for this scholarship award, a student needs to create an account with the username and password to access the online scholarship application form from the official website.
In addition to that, an applicant is required to submit their official high school transcript where he/she is studying in to demonstrate their excellence in academics.
A student must demonstrate academic eligibility and need for financial assistance by submitting necessary documents.
Award Amount and Deadline
The foundation provides a scholarship award amount of $1000 to two deserving applicants annually, and it can be renewed by reapplying to this scholarship.
All the necessary documents and application forms must be sent to the concerned department no later than May 1 to be eligible for the scholarship. Any form sent post-May will be disqualified.
An applicant must be an African-American male student with a need for financial assistance.
A candidate must be graduating from a high school in Dallas County.
To be eligible for the award amount, a student must be good at their academics and maintain a grade point average of 2.5 out of 4.
